Gut Seal Slice Recipe using the Gut Seal Pre Mix
This is one of those recipes that has quietly earned its place. Our clinic clients have been making it for years, and now that the whole blend comes ready in one bag, it takes about ten minutes to pull together. It is rich, a little chocolatey, and it slices like fudge straight from the fridge.
People always ask why it is called the gut seal slice.
Here is the story. After a cleanse, after a course of antibiotics, after a rough patch, there is a window where the gut lining asks for a little more care. That was the thinking behind the mix. Every ingredient earns its place: some to soothe and coat, some to feed the beneficial microbes that keep the gut balanced.
We reached for it so often in the clinic to support that lining that the name simply stuck. Gut seal. It is a slightly unusual name for a slice, but there is a real reason behind it, and it is my favourite way to fold gut care into something that actually tastes like a treat.
What goes into the gut seal pre-mix
Every ingredient was chosen on purpose, and each one has a body of research behind it. Two jobs run through the whole blend: gentle, soothing support for the gut, and prebiotic fibres that feed a diverse microbiome. Here is what is inside and why I chose it.
A note on the research below. Each of these ingredients has been studied on its own. The findings I mention come from research on the individual ingredients, not from studies on the gut seal mix as a finished blend. I have brought them together in one recipe because of what the literature shows about each one separately.
Put together in one slice, they do two simple things I care about: nourish and soothe, and feed a diverse microbiome. That is the whole idea behind food as medicine, the simple way.
