Bananas are known to have mood enhancing as well as sleep-inducing effects and, I don’t know about you, but a good sleep makes me happy! And the added bonus of this recipe is that the bananas are fermented, which is great news for those on a low carb diet. Many people tend to cut out the ever dependable banana due to the sugar content, but fermenting them means you can now enjoy them without impacting your blood sugar levels and also increasing nutrient bioavailability.
Bananas contain high levels of tryptophan, which is a precursor for serotonin, our feel good hormone. Not only is serotonin a natural anti-depressant, it can also assist with anxiety, insomnia, irritability and general moodiness.
Bananas also contain nutrients such as vitamins B6 and B9, magnesium and potassium, which are also known to reduce things such as anxiety and depression.
